The Challenge
The penthouse apartment sits atop a residential complex surrounded by the vineyards of Maienfeld. The clients had purchased the apartment with a different original layout. The goal was to redefine the room distribution to make it more functional and pleasant, creating a spacious living area, additional storage, a lighting concept, and a cozy ceiling design.
We were happy to fulfill all of their wishes. To open up the living space, we removed a laundry room with a guest toilet that was originally planned in the first layout.
Our goal is always to create a clean floor plan, because the more organized and logical it looks on paper, the more comfortable you will feel in the finished space.

The Idea
Since the homeowners did not want a visible roof structure, we developed a clever solution for an elegant ceiling underside: a design element combining lighting and soundproofing into a single structure. The roof ridge running through the living space served as our blueprint for the new ceiling design.

For indirect lighting, we integrated LED strips along the new ceiling edges. The positioning is designed to allow the light to spread generously and illuminate the room to perfection. Naturally, all LEDs are dimmable to create various lighting moods.
The Kitchen Concept
Cooking should take place in the background. That is why we redesigned the kitchen from scratch. The kitchen island is ideally positioned so you can cook undisturbed while still being able to see your guests at the dining table. You can access the herb garden on the roof terrace directly from here.

Above, indirect ambient lighting is combined with direct light from LEDs, pendants, and wall sconces to perfectly illuminate the entire kitchen.
The drawers are hidden behind the pull-outs, revealing only a single line that serves as a handle rail.
The bathroom concept
Lighting the kitchen was very important to us, so we carried the roof's style over from the living area. The LEDs at a height of 4.8 meters provide ambient lighting for the room. Simple pendant lights from manufacturer Davide Groppi illuminate the kitchen island to perfection.

In the minimalist bathrooms, the diamond shape is repeated as a design element on the faucets and shower panels.
Everything else was designed to be very practical and understated, tailored to the homeowners' wishes.

The implementation
We continued the concept of the roof structure onto the terrace as well. Above the dining area, we planned a sound-absorbing ceiling that extends into the living space. This simplified the lighting and provided the simplest way to integrate soundproofing. We love flowing shapes and angles that all come together to make sense.
